Skipping Non Regular File Rsync Symlink

About realtechtalk.com. The Leading Source Of IT and Linux Administration, Server and Virtualization. Contained no files (aside from more nested directories or symlinks) were symlinks, or somehow otherwise not seen as a regular file; then that's working as intended. But if the subdirectories were non-symlink directories with regular files in them, that seems like a bug (although I'm not sure why this would happen). You can also increase the verbosity by adding an extra -v option, e.g.avvz, according to the man page, 'Two -v options will give you information on what files are being skipped and slightly more information at the end.' If this information that returns doesn't help identify the problem, please edit your question and add the additional output. It gives a 'cannot traverse non-regular file' error for Windows junctions and directory symlinks. You can sort-of do 2-way sync with rsync by running it twice but there's no easy way to pick and choose which side to favour in complex cases, so don't do it.

Symlinks
Hi Everyone,
Apologies ft that issue is existing already in the forum, but I could't find it. I am struggling for some time now with Acrosync( which is windows client for rsync that does not require cygwin installation and is supposed to ingrate itself well with freenas) and rsync. I am backing up data from a Windows 7 machine that is joined to the domain using Acrosync program. I've setup SMB shared folder where Acrosync is logging in using domain account. I was testing it and was working fine, however folder and files I am backing up have 'read only' attribute setup and this results in only folders being copied and not the files as they are skipped with the message 'Skipping Non-regular file'. If I change files attributes either by removing 'read only' or adding 'file is ready for archiving' then everything get copied over just fine, but I can't run another script before backup, that will be overwriting file attributes every time. Unfortunately, files are created by application and there is no way to disable that via its configuration option. On Acrosync forum I've found info that it's actually problem on Freenas side, however Freenas feedback does not say a lot for me.
This is the command that Acrosync is using:
rsync --server --modify-window=2 --log-format=%n --links --recursive -tude. . Rhodium-Backup/
and this is error it gives:
INFO: skipping non-regular file 'wells/Default/2018/07/02/2018-07-02 14-33-30/focus/probe.tif'
I am running rsync on port 873 for now without ssh. The module has read and write access mode and is using domain username account to save data, which is the same as the one that Acrosync is using, group is set up to nobody.
Could someone help me to understand why is this happening?

I back up my files using rsync. Right after a sync, I ran it expecting to see nothing, but instead it looked like it was skipping directories. I've (obviously) changed names, but I believe I've still captured all the information I could. What's happening here?

Then I sync (expecting no changes):

Rsync Copy Only Missing Files

Symlink

And here's the weird part:

So it worked:

but still:

Other notes:

Rsync Do Not Overwrite

My actual directories 'foo' and 'bar' do have spaces, but no other strange characters. Other directories have spaces and have no problem. I 'stat'-ed and saw no differences between the directories that don't rsync and the ones that do.

Rsync Overwrite Files

If you need more information, just ask.
