Afloat - give nerds window management back. AFloat, originally started by @millenomi, adds useful window management commands to most Mac apps, such as 'Keep on top' and 'Focus Follows Mouse', that you may be accustomed to if you ever used a real UNIX window manager. 😄 Afloat adds the following options to supported apps' Window menu: Installation.

Afloat is a small Cocoa plug-in that adds 'Keep Floating' and 'Make Transparent' commands to the Window menu of many Mac applications. 'Keep Floating' will keep the window always on top (even if you switch applications), while 'Make Transparent' will allow you to set a translucency level for the window.
What's New:
Afloat is now compatible with more Cocoa applications (for example, GarageBand).
Afloat is now a preference pane for System Preferences and does not need Installer packages to be installed. Installing Afloat, removing it and upgrading to future versions of it will not require an administrator’s name and password. (Upgrading to this version from the first pre-release requires authentication only once.)
Afloat can now be disabled without removing it.
Afloat is now more reliable and refrains from loading in some system applications (especially those required to remove or disable it in case something goes wrong, like the Dock or System Preferences).
The command known in the previous version as “Keep Floating” was renamed to “Always on Top”. The “Keep Floating” command in this version quickly makes a window transparent and always on top (and toggles between these two states).
Keyboard shortcuts were added to quickly set a window’s transparency level.
Requirements:
the SIMBL framework (Version 0.81 is included in the download).

Please note as well that, while we have the game available to try on the browser, we will eventually release the game as a desktop app. Please consider trying out the Windows or Mac build for a more accurate version of the game. If using a Mac, please see the Mac section in the Installation Instructions below.

This is our first IP based on an idea we conceived at the Global Game Jam 2020. See here for the game jam game, which serves as our prototype.

In this local-coop game, the pirates must keep their sinking ship afloat for a duration of time, while leaks keep appearing at the base.

The players must coordinate with each other to stay afloat by doing the following:

• Using the bucket to empty the ship of the water that's filling in through the leaks.
• Using the hammer to build planks at the work table and using those planks to plug in the leaks.

The less water that's inside the ship, the quicker you will be able to beat the level!

Some levels may have mechanisms that can be triggered by floor switches. To activate a floor switch, simply walk on it when it's popped up.

Xbox (the recommended way to play)

• Analog stick - movement
• A - Jump
• Down + A - descend from platforms
• B - action, which includes:
  • Carrying items (i.e. bucket and hammer)
  • Filling up water when carrying the bucket in water
  • Dumping water out near the left/right sides of the top deck of the ship when carrying the bucket
  • Building a plank at the work table on the top deck (press and hold)
  • Plugging in leak with the hammer having at least 1 plank
• X - drop carried item
• Y - YAR!
• Start - pause/resume
• RB - switch characters (Single Player only)

Install instructions

Windows

1. Download the zip folder.
2. Unzip it somewhere on your computer.
3. Launch the 'Stay Afloat' executable.

NOTE: all the files included with the 'Stay Afloat' executable have to be kept in the same directory as the 'Stay Afloat' executable.

Mac

Afloat Mac App

1. Download the app
2. You will most likely get an error saying that it's from an 'unidentified developer' and that you cannot open it. Click Cancel.
3. Then go into System Preferences > Security & Privacy> General. There will be a section at the bottom saying 'Stay Afloat' was blocked from opening... - next to that click the Open Anyway button.
4. A window will then pop up asking once more if you want to open the app - click Open.
5. The game can be played with a keyboard and an Xbox controller. To use an Xbox controller on a Mac, check out this article for instructions on how to install and configure the driver.
